Leadership

Stephen A. Trost, President

steve trostSteve moved to Salt Lake from Chicago 35 years ago to continue in the practice of law. His secular education consisted of an undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and Juris Doctorate from DePaul University College of Law.

Steve was saved at Mt. Olympus Presbyterian Church in 1984, and he's presently a member of Calvary Chapel. He has served in various Christian leadership positions. He started ministering with the Evangelical Free Church at the Mission in 1998. He joined the Mission's Board of Directors in 2000.

In 2002, he felt that he was being called into full-time ministry and decided to retire from the practice of law to attend the Salt Lake Theological Seminary. After completing 3 semesters, the Board of Directors hired Steve to serve the Rescue Mission of Salt Lake as Executive Director. In 2003 Steve was commissioned by the Evangelical Free Church to be a "pastor to the homeless" at the Mission!

Steve completed a Masters Program at the University of Utah in Substance Abuse Counseling this July. He finished this education to supplement his Genesis counseling training. Steve is currently overseeing the Rescue Mission's new building project and our overall transition to a new Mission on the west-side of Salt Lake City.

Chris Beane, Counselor

chris beanChris is the most recent addition to the counseling staff at the Mission. Over the last four years he has heard God's call on his life to move from his long time career as a Chef to a work partnering with Christ and the ministry of the Holy Spirit in helping the homeless and the addicted. Chris has seen God's mighty hand at work in his own recovery. His passion is to see broken lives restored, both the addicted and down trodden as well as those in the Church who sit quietly in the pews while inside they too hurt from the brokenness of this fallen world.

Chris is involved in the Adult discipleship ministry at First Presbyterian Church. He has completed training as a Genesis Counselor and is currently working towards a License in Substance Abuse Counseling through the University of Utah. There is great value in the many counseling models for recovery but there is only one way to New Life and that is in a life given to God.
