Faith-Based Recovery Meetings
We hold open recovery meetings for men and women striving to attain and maintain sobriety from 1 to 2 pm Tuesday through Thursday.
Men and women are welcome to attend our nightly 7:00 p.m. Chapel Service. You do not need to be staying at the Mission or even eating the dinner meal served afterward to share in this worship service, which is, of course, held in the Chapel.
Breakfast - 6:15-6:45 a.m., Monday through Saturday
Lunch - Noon to 12:30 p.m., every day
Dinner - 8 p.m., every day after the Chapel Service*
*Guests must be in the building by 7 p.m. in order to stay for dinner.
All of these meals are open to anyone, male or female, regardless of race or religion.
Brown Bag Lunches
We will provide a brown bag lunch to homeless men and women who work during the day and cannot attend our lunch meal.
Family Food Boxes
We provide Family Food Boxes to low-income families who need help with groceries. You must present an ID for each person in the family. (Birth certificates or medical records are OK to prove child's identity.) Family Food Boxes are available 9-11 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 2-4 p.m. on Sundays.
During bad weather or times of freezing temperatures we open up our day room to anyone who needs shelter.
We have a Baggage Room just off of our Contact Office where homeless men and women may check-in their gear for up to seven days .
Message Board and Mail Reception
We encourage homeless men and women to use the Rescue Mission as their home base. They can get mail at the Mission and receive telephone messages. This service allows our homeless clients an address and telephone number to use when applying for jobs, bank accounts and other necessities of modern society.
Shaves, Showers and Free Clothing
We open our dormitory restrooms every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for men aged 18 and older to shave, shower and brush their teeth. Our Clothes Pantry is also open during these times for men to obtain (as we have available) dress shirts and t-shirts, dress pants and jeans, shoes, and personal hygiene items such as toothbrushes and combs.
Women and children may obtain clothing and baby items, such as diapers, at the Women's Center. Please call ahead to place a clothing order: 801-521-5925.
Overnight Accommodations: Dorm and Overflow
We have 50 beds available in our dormitory for men to sleep in. Eligible men may receive a bed for 7 days every 30 days, as available. The Overflow Room opens in severe weather conditions and offers men a mat on the floor for the night.
The Women's Center is a small, family-style recovery house with room for 14 women, most of whom are in the New Life recovery program. Female guests and their children are invited to stay as beds become available. Please call ahead to check availability: 801-521-5925.
Homeless men and women must have a valid photo ID in order to get a bed (or spot in the Overflow Room when it's open). WE HAVE A ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICY ON DRUGS AND ALCOHOL. If you need to sober up for a few days, please go to the VOA's Adult Detox Center on 252 West Brooklyn Avenue, Salt Lake City, Utah 84101. It's free and open 24/7. Click here for more details.
